Vibe comes in a container that might well fit in on your household tea shelf, being simple, small, and discrete looking, with only a few designs on the packaging. One side of the round case actually has an outline of the toy, so you can see the exact size before you even open the box. When you take the lid off of the tube, there is what would be similar to an undersized zip-up pencil pouch, that holds Vibe, as well as its manual and charging cable.

The toy itself is shaped like a long teardrop, with a minimalist, single button control. The entire surface is covered in silicone, making it body-safe and incredibly easy to clean. On that note, Vibe is water-resistant, which makes it safe for cleaning, but not submersible, so while it may be shower safe, isn’t good for the tub, or internal use. The toy uses a reliable jack style charging cable, which means it won’t fall off and fail to be ready when you need it. Charging time is around one and a half, to two hours from empty, and a full battery is expected to last one and a half hours on high, to two and a half hours on low. Maude themselves claim that if used daily for fifteen minutes, the toy should last about a year, which is good to know.

Holding down the single button on the front of the toy turns it on, and pressing it after will cycle through the multiple vibration speeds. Vibe isn’t terribly quiet on any of the settings, but rather than having a hard motor shell on the end, the top inch of the toy is just squishy silicone. It makes the vibration of the toy far gentler, and almost fluttery soft. While this may make the vibration seem less intense, it doesn’t mean that it isn’t strong by any means. It just means that the vibration feels more bouncy than aggressive. For those who it also applies to, it might also be nice to know that the soft silicone won’t cause the toy to scream when used near any jewelry.

Vibe costs $49 on the Maude website, and comes in gray, green, and charcoal. At that price point, you’re getting something with the strength of a we-vibe toy, but with the extra perks of being USB-rechargeable, coated in silicone, gentle in use, and given a minimalist design that could be left out in the open without a lot of questioning looks. The wide base also makes it easier to hold than the smaller bullets that exist, and thus more accessible than many similar toys. At the same time, the form factor is small enough to use with someone else, while not being intimidating.

Maude, which only just launched in 2018, is a company that wanted to focus on simplicity and inclusivity. They try to focus on minimalist design, to just create products that allow people to be intimate, no matter who they are, or who they’re with. Their simple designs also make things more pared down and understandable, easing frustrations in use. Currently, they make a variety of sexual health and wellness products for all bodies.
